Dear Silver Springs School Parents and Guardians,
Santa’s Workshop: Our exciting SANTA’S WORKSHOP is this Tuesday! This is a School Council sponsored event where tables are set up in the gym, (similar to a large garage sale) and children are able to choose gifts for their immediate family members (those people who live in their home). Please read the School Council Updates below for a more detailed description and updates on this event.
Carol Singing: On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, we will be starting our day in the gym with some festive carol singing from 8:30 –9:00. Mrs. Blenkhorne will be leading us during this time. We will also have some of our students share what they have been learning during music classes. Families are welcome to join us. Please note that a limited number of chairs will be set up for this event, so be prepared to sit on the floor with our students.
Stuff-a-Sock Generosity Initiative: Thank you so much for your continued generosity. Our Silver Springs School community is simply amazing. We have received so many items that we will be sorting and using to stuff socks in support of The Mustard Seed. We will keep you posted on how many socks we are able to fill.
Spirit Wear Delivery Update: Orders should be arriving on Monday. We will do our best to have them distributed to students by Tuesday. If you wish to pick up the items from the office instead of them going home with your child, please email our office at SilverSprings@cbe.ab.ca by Monday afternoon to let us know.
Return Library Books: As we get ourselves organized for the winter break, we ask that you take a good look around the house and return any library books to school, no later than Monday, December 16, 2024. We would like to have the opportunity to reorganize our bookshelves for the new year and send home any overdue notices.
Lost and Found: There is a lot of lost and found clothing and other items accumulating at school. Parents are welcome to come to school and check out the lost and found. Any items remaining at the start of the Winter Break (December 20) will be donated to charity.
Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-26 school year begins January 11, 2025. For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025. When registering your child for school, there are several things you should consider. Our CBE Kindergarten Registration Guide can help answer many of your questions.
Lunch Supervision, Bus Fees, and Student Supply Fees: These fees have been added to MyCBE parent accounts. The lunch supervision fee is $305/year. The bus fee is $260/year. The student supply fee is $40 (grade 1-6 students) and $20 for Kindergarten students. You can login and pay all or part of your fees. If you need to apply for a fee waiver, it is better to do it sooner rather than later. SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATES
Special Events:
· Santa's Workshop - Thank you for all of the generous donations for Santa's Workshop! We are looking forward to this fun and festive event on Tuesday December 17th.
· Please take the time to review with your children the members of your immediate household(s) that they will be choosing gifts for. This may include parents, siblings and other family members living with you. Sorry, no pets! Students will come home with wrapped and labelled gifts to put under the tree.

· About Santa's Workshop: This tradition is a special one for students. It will be held on Tuesday, December 17. School Council will set up tables in the gym similar to a garage sale. Your child will be given a chance to shop (for free!) for gifts for their immediate family members.
