Our Green Fools Theatre Society weeklong residency was a rousing success this week. A big thanks to Jeffrey from Green Fools who was amazing, and he helped students (and staff!) to learn all kinds of new skills like juggling, walking on stilts, walking on a tight rope (close to the ground... 😊), and a bunch of other circus skills! Students learned about “try and try again, the value of practice, supporting each other, and trying new things. A HUGE thank you to our School Council for supporting learning opportunities like this! Valentine’s Day will be celebrated in classrooms this coming Wednesday. Teachers will find a way to make connections to curriculum and learning as it relates to each grade grouping. If students choose to bring in Valentines for others, we ask that they do so for all classmates, so as not to leave anyone out.  We also ask that you do not send in any candy, food treats or gifts (please and thank you!) 

The weather next week is still going to be cold next week, so please make sure your children are dressed properly for the weather, as whether they go outside or not will depend on the weather and how much it warms up during the day. On Thursday students were inside for morning recess but then did go outside at lunch time.

Parent Updates 

School Council and Parent Association Meetings on Tuesday February 11, 2025 at 6:30 pm 

Our next School Council and Parent Association meeting is on Tuesday February 11, 2025 at 6:30 pm at Silver Springs School. I look forward to seeing you there, and extend a welcome for you to come join us! 

SC Position for Treasurer 

First of all, I would like to thank Lauren for being our Treasurer for the Silver Springs School Council and Parent Society. We are looking for a new person to take over the position after June 2025, and I know we have an amazing community of people out there! The Silver Springs School Council and Parent Society will be having our next meeting on February 11, 2025 at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons.

Long Weekend

A reminder that students have an extra-long weekend ahead. There is no school this next Thursday and Friday due to Teachers’ Convention, and Monday is Family Day.  We hope that you enjoy this extra time with your children, playing some games, reading favourite books, snuggling on the couch, or getting outside and enjoying the fresh air.  

February is Black History Month

During the month of February, Calgary Board of Education students and staff will celebrate and explore the many contributions of Black Canadians, peoples, and communities worldwide. Black History Month is an opportunity for schools to amplify and spotlight the innovative, courageous, and inspiring voices, stories, and contributions of Black Canadians and communities.
