First of all, I want to say a HUGE to School Council and Parent Society for the Subway Fun Lunch last Wednesday! As a parent, Fun Lunches were just the best as it meant I did not need to make lunches! We had a lot of wonderful volunteers here making sure kids got their lunches, and they were amazing! 

Next week we are in the start of February and are already heading into the second half of the school year. It will be a busy week with The Green Fools Theatre Society joining us for a weeklong residency, where students (and staff!) will be learning all kinds of new skills! Thanks as well to School Council for supporting learning opportunities like this! 

The weather next week is going to be very cold to start the week, so please make sure your children are dressed properly for the weather, as the bus or car could break down, or, as we know in Calgary, the weather can change drastically and unpredictably in a very short time! 

Green Fools Residency at Silver Springs School – February 3-7, 2025 

Green Fools Theatre is a non-profit charity that creates, performs and teaches physical theatre focusing on masks, puppets, stilts, and circus, and will work with our students to foster active, creative learning.  

Welcome Ms. Ashley Bokenfohr, Grade 5/6 Room 10 

Welcome to Ms. Ashley Bokenfohr, who will be taking over as the teacher of Room 10. She is greatly excited to be able to come to Silver Springs School and work with our grade 5/6s.   

School Council Position for Treasurer 

First of all, I would like to thank Lauren for being our Treasurer for the Silver Springs School Council and Parent Society. We are looking for a new person to take over the position after June 2025, and I know we have an amazing community of people out there! The Silver Springs School Council and Parent Society will be having our next meeting on February 11, 2025 at 6:30 pm in the Learning Commons.

For all of our Grade 6 families, please mark March 13 on your calendar for an Open House at F.E. Osborne School, where most of our grade 6 students will be designated to for Grade 7! 

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-26 school year began on January 13, 2025, at 9:00am. For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025. Families with students designated to Silver Springs School but who attended elsewhere for kindergarten are also encouraged to enroll as soon as possible for grade 1. Should you have any questions about registering your child, please contact the school office at 403-777-6070 ext. 0. For more detailed information on how to register and what is required, please visit the CBE website. 

Viewing Report Cards

Families can view online report cards on January 27 using your MyCBE parent account. Report cards can also be downloaded and printed by families at home. For best access to information, login to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool app. Need help?
