Dear Silver Springs School Parents and Guardians,

Wonder Day #2: Our second Wonder Day of the year was held this past Thursday morning. Students once again had the opportunity to engage in a choice activity with a group of students ranging from Kindergarten to grade 6. There was so much engagement and happiness in learning something new, like juggling, earring making, stop-motion animation, and more. Make sure to ask your child about what they did and a new friend they may have made. Our hope is that through events like this, we will develop a greater sense of connection and belonging in our school community.

Report Cards - Student Assessment and Reporting: It’s that time of year again when families receive written feedback regarding their child’s progress at school. Report cards will be viewable online for Silver Springs School students beginning Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

Report cards are one of several mechanisms that teachers use to communicate student progress along with formalized processes such as parent-teachers conferences. Additionally, teachers informally communicate student achievement through such means as student work sent home, email, phone calls, or face-to-face communication with families. Taken together, ongoing communication is vital to ensure student success. Ongoing communication supports students and families in building an understanding of individual student achievement over the course of the reporting period, so the information communicated in the report card is both expected and easily understood.

Kindergarten report cards will look a little different than for our grade 1 to 6 students. In January, progress in only ELAL and Math will be communicated to parents / legal guardians via the report card through both indicators and comments.  In June, progress in all discipline areas will be shared through indicators and comments.

Should you have questions or comments about your child’s progress or information contained within their report card, please connect with your child’s teacher. Please note that our next round of school conferences will occur on March 22 and 23, 2043.

Viewing Report Cards: The CBE no longer prints report cards in January or June to send home with students.  Families can view online report cards on January 30 using your MyCBE parent account. Report cards can also be downloaded and printed by families at home. For best access to information, login to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool app. Need help? Check out this video for more information on how to sign in, navigate the portal, toggle between more than one child’s report card, and more.  MyCBE Student and Parent/Legal Guardian Account Sign-in - Kindergarten - Gr.9

Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-25 school year has begun and is on-going. For children to be eligible to register and attend kindergarten next school year, they must turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2024. When registering your child for school, there are several things you should consider. Our CBE Kindergarten Registration Guide can help answer many of your questions.
