Dear SS Parents and Guardians

Silver Springs School has an amazing School Council! We meet the second Tuesday of every month, and all parents are automatically part of the School Council and are welcome to attend the 6:30 pm meetings. We are a fun group and just pulled off a huge casino fundraiser last week! The School Council and Parent Association work to support our school, not only with fundraising, but with things like fun lunches, special events, volunteerism, supporting field trips by paying for buses, sharing feedback, ideas, and thoughts with the principal, and providing advice from the Parent community in order to make our school as great a place as possible for our students to be and learn at. A huge thank you goes out to each and every one of the members of our School Council, as they have stepped up and volunteered so much time to support our students. You know who you are and just know how greatly I appreciate everything you do!

Educationally yours,
Derek 😊

Volunteer Appreciation Tea

You're invited! Please join us for our VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION TEA Thursday, May 22 from 10:15-11:45 in the Learning Commons. The staff and students of Silver Springs School would like to express our appreciation for our amazing volunteers! If you gave the gift of your time during the school year (classroom activities, field trips, special lunches, etc.), please join us for some light refreshments and a short program so we can say a proper THANK YOU! Please arrange for childcare as we are unable to accommodate both volunteers and younger siblings during this celebration. Please RSVP with your child's teacher by Tuesday the 20.

Moving for Calm Enhances Focus and Well-Being

Dr. Greg Wells explores how rhythmic physical activity can promote relaxation and creativity in his latest blog, “Exercises that Create Theta Brainwaves.” Gentle, repetitive movement such as walking, cycling, or swimming can help shift brain activity into a theta state, which is linked to mental clarity, reduced stress, and creative insight. This “moving meditation” approach makes calm more accessible, especially for those who find traditional stillness challenging.
