Dear Parents and Guardians of Silver Springs School,

Welcome back to all of our new and old Silver Springs School families. Yesterday was an amazing first day and the students were wonderful! There was such a feeling of hope and excitement and enthusiasm today! It was great to see all those smiling faces! 😊

A warm heart,
Opens doors,
To new faces,
To new places
The start of a new beginning. 😊

Illness and Masking

Students, staff and families may wear masks if they choose to as individuals. We do ask that individuals “Stay Home When Sick,” so if students and staff who present with illness symptoms must stay at home until symptoms resolve and they are feeling well.

Lunchtime Logistics

The CBE provides students with the option to stay at school for lunch. Lunch Supervision is offered to all students in Grades 1- 6 at Silver Springs School for an annual fee. Students in these grades require direct supervision during the lunch hour so there is a fee.

Students are required to bring a lunch. We do not provide access to a microwave, hot water, dishes, utensils or other cooking facilities. Our amazing School Council will volunteer to have a number of Healthy Hunger lunches throughout the year, and more information will be coming on those dates soon.
All students are expected to go outside unless weather or air quality prohibits it. Please make sure students are wearing appropriate clothing for going outside for Recess and Lunch Break. We will typically be outside, and unless it is really cold, we will still head outside if it is warmer that -20°C (taking into account any possible wind chill factors).

If your child will be staying at school during the daily lunch break, they must be registered for Lunch Supervision. You can register and pay your fees using your MyCBE account.

Cold and Inclement Weather

With our Calgary Weather, please be prepared and dressed appropriately as we will still head outside if it is warmer that -20°C (including wild chill.) If it is colder than that we will keep students inside as warranted. Please know that we will support safety first, but do expect that all students are appropriately dressed for changing weather. Typically, our students are great, but the amount of appropriate clothing dwindles as kids get older. 😊

Homeroom Teachers are your First Contact for Student Issues

I always try to be as available as possible, but please know that your child’s Homeroom Teacher should always be the first point of contact for you and the school.  If you have any questions, please start with them as they will do their best to deal with any issues.

There is just so much to share at the start of a school year, and we do not want to overwhelm you with everything at once, and there is already a ton of information here!  We hope that as you send your child off to Silver Springs School that you will do so with the confidence and trust in us that we are here to help your child stay safe, stay healthy, and have an amazing learning year at school. We have assembled a staff that I have complete trust and faith in and know they will always act in the best interests of your child at all times.

We are so excited to welcome our students back and to welcome those new to Silver Springs with the anticipation of an amazing school year ahead!

“Work hard, learn lots, and be kind to those around you!”
Our Motto

Educationally yours,
