Re: First Day of School Information – Tuesday, September 2, 2025
“Happy New Year” and welcome back, everyone! I am so pumped to have all of our students back on Tuesday and ready to rock and roll into another fantastic year! Even though I have been doing this a long time (over 30 years now!), I guarantee I will not sleep a wink on Monday night, as there will be some excitement and some anxiety about the new year!
Our amazing staff at Silver Springs School is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and caring learning community for our students. We are also committed to providing students with multiple opportunities to grow and learn. Our teachers will work with each student, getting to know them as both a learner and a person, to ascertain where they are in relation to the grade level curriculum and will take each student forward from where they are working at, and help them to learn and grow into amazing citizens and learners.
Classroom Placements and Welcome Letter Emails
Teachers will be emailing families by Tuesday afternoon to introduce themselves and provide first day of school information to their students and families. Additionally, we have assigned entry doors for all grades. If you have not received this Welcome email from your child’s teacher by Friday, please contact the main office at 403-777-6070 or email our school email at silversprings@cbe.ab.ca .
First Day Processes
On Tuesday morning between 8:19 and 8:34 am, Homeroom teachers will meet our students outside. Teachers will all be holding up signs with their names on them and students will meet their teachers and then will come in with their teachers. At 8:34 am, Teachers will escort students in single file to their assigned doors and then to classrooms.
Main Office Access
Access to Silver Springs School’s Main Office will be open August 27-29, 2025, between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. Please call the office at 403-777-6070 or email our school email at silversprings@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions.
TOPP Kids Out of School Care
Silver Springs School has an Out of School Care program called TOPP Kids. They are open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, and during early dismissals on Fridays until 6:00 pm. Supervision
School staff will be on supervision every school day beginning at 8:19 am and will be visible in their yellow vests. Similarly, at the end of the day, we encourage families to create a meeting spot to receive their child after school.

NEW Start Time – 8:34 am
Supervision will be provided starting at 8:19 am each morning. Through the year, students are asked to line up at their entry doors. The entry bell will ring at 8:34 am and students will be welcomed into their classrooms. Grade 1 to 6 Students will now be dismissed at 3:10 pm.

Student School Supplies
Students will be provided with their own set of basic school supplies by Silver Springs School. They will need their own backpacks, indoors shoes, and lunch kits.
Parking and Student Drop Off
Please do not enter OR park in the school parking lot. Additionally, please do not park in front of the school along Silver Mead Road NW between the cross walk and the staff parking lot entrance, as this is our bus drop off zone. There is space to the west of the crosswalk, tonnes of space to the east of the staff parking lot entrance, or on the north side of Silver Mead Road NW. Please be safe and use the crosswalk if crossing Silver Mead Road NW.
At this time of year, we want to be mindful of our driving and parking habits to ensure all of our students arrive safely and depart safely from school each day. We understand that many parents want to ensure their child knows where to go in the first few days of school and we expect increased traffic flow around the school this coming week. Please bring along your extra patience!
There will be so much more to share in the coming days and weeks. Individual teacher communication as well as communications from the school will come via School Messenger, so please ensure you are signed up to receive school emails (including those with commercial content) and are checking your email regularly.
